What Is Sonophoresis?
Sonophoresis or Ultrasound infusion technology uses low frequency ultrasound vibrations to significantly improve absorption of active ingredients into the skin up to 1000 times greater than if applied manually.
It causes small spaces to open between the skin cells that result in an increased penetration of ingredients and the disruption of the lipid barrier caused by the ultrasonic vibrations also helps in the transdermal delivery.
Sonophoresis can be customised to suit any skin type and condition, and is commonly used with antioxidant-powerhouses like Vitamin A & C, as well as other active cosmeceuticals and skin softeners. These actives are released deep down into the dermis to target the signs of aging, dehydrated skin, photo damage, pigmentation, poor skin texture and acne.
Sonophoresis can be used on its own with our 30 Minute Vitamin Infusions, and is highly recommended as an add on treatment with peels, facials or microdermabrasion (Sonobrasion) to improve their benefits.
It can be successfully used on the neck and decolletage area, hands, arms, back and chest for all skin types including sensitive skin and Rosacea.
There is no downtime and you are able to immediately return to your daily activities. Your skin may be slightly pink immediately after the treatment but usually feels firmer, cleaner more hydrated with a healthy glow. Some people may experience mild flaking and peeling with the more active products and when used with other exfoliating treatments.

What Happens During A Sonophoresis Treatment?
Sonophoresis is usually performed in about 15-20 minutes, creating a comfortable and relaxing warm sensation. A concentrated active product is applied to your face according to your individual skin needs.
A flat spatula emitting high-speed, low-frequency ultrasound vibrations is used to gently massage your skin and aid in the absorption of the active product. A high pitched sound is usually heard during the treatment but does not cause harm.
The treatment can be performed on its own as our 30 minute Vitamin Infusion Treatments but is best performed after a Microdermabrasion or Glycolic & Lactic Acid peel and Ultrasonic Cleansing to ensure maximum absorption and efficacy. After which we will apply a mask chosen for you which will both soothe and seal in the nutrients.
